Seriously tho. Mermaids is scary shit. I mean, they’re pretty and I paint them all the time because they’re pretty, but they scare the crap out of me and this is only vaguely what they look like to me. I’ll draw y’all what mermaids look like in my head, okay? Some day.

II may have set out with the intention of making my mermaid as nonhuman as I could manage. I think Cannibal has me beat on that count, though.

She’s certainly more Abe Sapien than Ariel.  Manta rays are some of the coolest marine animals I’ve ever seen and it’s kind of a dream of mine to see one in person, and maybe even get to swim with one. After all the scales and hair of the last few girls, I was so glad to work on something a little simpler!
